Rick Kimbrel

Rick Kimbrel, the former managing editor of PrepStar magazine, is nationally recognized as one of the leading authorities on college football recruiting. The veteran analyst and reporter was key in first making Blue Chip Illustrated and then PrepStar Magazine a recruiting publication standard.

Kimbrel has written for CBS Sportsline, ESPN.com, CNN-SI, The Sporting News, Athlon's, Lindy's, Football News, and numerous other publications. He has also consulted on All-America teams for Parade Magazine and Street and Smith's. Most recently, Rick was the West Coast Recruiting Editor for Rivals.com, national recruiting consultant for Rivals.com and publisher of BruinBlitz.com.

The Barr Raised

Barr Anthony 300It is true that the Bruins recently signed an outstanding recruiting class that is going to bode well for UCLA's future down the road. The Bruins truly hit the mother lode when junior linebacker, Anthony Barr opted to continue his college career putting off a NFL payday for a year. That couldn't have been easy to do. It was quite possible that Barr would have gone in the first round in the upcoming draft.

Coach Mora: Post-Practice on Thursday

Jim-MoraThe 15/16th-ranked Bruins (9-2, 6-2) continued their work for Saturday's Pac-12 Conference game (3:35 p.m. on FOX; and radio broadcast in the Los Angeles area by the Bruin IMG Network on am570) against No. 11 Stanford this morning on Spaulding Field.

Bruin Notes ---- UCLA is ranked fifth in the nation in sacks (3.5/g). The Bruins have captured 11 of the last 18 home games played versus teams ranked in the Associated Press poll, including Nebraska, Arizona and USC this season. Quarterback Brett Hundley is tied with Cade McNown for second on the all-time touchdown passes in a season list at 25 (Drew Olson, 2005 is No. 1 - 34). Hundley's eight rushing touchdowns rank tied for sixth on that list with Rick Bashore, 1978 (No. 1 are John Sciarra, 1975 and Gary Beban, 1965 with 14). Johnathan Franklin ranks fifth in the nation in rushing (131.0). Anthony Barr is ranked fourth in the nation in sacks (1.09) and tied for eighth in the nation in tackles for loss (1.64). Senior cornerback Sheldon Price ranks tied for 14th in the nation in interceptions (0.40/g). Senior punter Jeff Locke has placed 20 punts this season at or inside the 10-yard line.
