Fairbairn K TCampUCLA senior placekicker, Ka'imi Fairbairn joins Kai Forbath giving UCLA its second Lou Groza award winner. Fairbairn gives his thoughts on the honor.

"Thank you so much," Fairbairn said. "First off, a tremendous thanks to the Lou Groza family and committee. It is an amazing honor to be part of such a proud tradition. To the other finalists, Jake and Daniel, you guys are extremely talented and deserving. It has been a pleasure to get to know you both.

"There is a quote by Sir Isaac Newton that says 'I see as far as I see, because I stand on the shoulders of giants.' It is because of the efforts of a great deal of others that I stand here today. These people are the foundation that have enabled me to succeed.

"I would like to thank my UCLA family. Gene Block, Dan Guerrero, Coach Mora and the rest of the UCLA staff. You provided me with an incredible opportunity and I am forever grateful. To my teammates, you guys are my brothers. I love you guys and I will cherish the bonds we have made forever. To Chris Longo and Jerry Neuheisal, you two never get enough credit and without your hard work I would never be here today. Thank you.

"To my home state of Hawaii, mahalo nui loa for your unwavering support. I will always remember where I came from. To my family at Punahou School, my teachers and coaches, especially Eric Hannum, and Chris Sailer. You have done so much for me, I can never repay you. Thank you.

"To the rest of my family and friends in Hawaii, thank you for your unconditional love and support throughout the years. To my girlfriend Rachel, you have been with me on this journey since the beginning. Thank you, its not over yet.

"And last but not least, my parents. You have set the foundation and course for me to grow and find success. I am truly grateful and words can’t express how much you both mean to me. On a final note Happy birthday Mom and Go Bruins."
