Ali P Uky 120415UCLA (4-1) will host UC Irvine (2-3) at Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins have done some intense traveling since this season began earlier in the month. Now a well-rested UCLA team awaits the Anteaters. Tipoff is scheduled for  3:00 PM PST.

The Bruins hold an 8-2 advantage lifetime against the Anteaters, but the last two contests were nail biters. UCLA defeated UC Irvine in Pauley Pavilion on Nov. 13, 2012 (the Bruins won, 80-79, in overtime). Other recent meetings against UC Irvine took place in Dec. 2010 (UCLA 74, UC Irvine 73) and Dec. 2011 (UCLA 89, UC Irvine 60).

Earlier this week, UC Irvine (3-4) dropped a 90-82 decision to Rider University and bounced back Friday with a 77-71 win over Northern Arizona while participating in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.

Last time out for UCLA, the Bruins were in a seesaw battle with Wisconsin and then the man that Bruin head basketball coach, Steve Alford calls a ‘Pit Bull’ junior guard, Aaron Holiday put the Bruins on his back and scored the last 10 UCLA points of the game, including a buzzer beater for 72-70 win over the Badgers.

Against Wisconsin, four other Bruins scored in double figures. Gyorgy Golomon scored a season-high 11 points, all in the first-half. Thomas Welsh scored 11 points. Jaylen Hands scored 10 points and Prince Ali once again supplied points off the bench scoring 10.

Though true freshman guard, Kris Wilkes didn’t reach double figures, he has been a dependable scorer and is averaging a second best on the team, 14.3 points per game.

The game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network Jim Watson doing the play-by-play and Casey Jacobsen analyzing the action.

UCLA Sports Network from IMG broadcast the game on your radio dial AM 57 with Josh Lewin and Bruin great Tracy Murray performing their usual roles.
