Vanderdoes UCLA Bound

Written by

Vanderdoes E 405UCLA’s class of 2013 just became better as Eddie Vanderdoes (6-3, 305) from Auburn (Calif.) Placer has signed an athletic scholarship with the Bruins. This was allowed because Notre Dame lifted its recruiting ban and that permitted Vanderdoes to take action with UCLA.

In Vanderdoes the Bruins get a monster defensive lineman that if eligible and that hasn’t been worked out as of yet, could come in and compete for playing time as a true freshman.

There aren’t many that can do that, but Vanderdoes is one of those players. The Bruins hope that Notre Dame let’s Vanderdoes out of his NLI, if the Fighting Irish do that, it would allow Vanderdoes to play this fall.

It is has been a whirlwind for Vanderdoes and a tough choice was made.

Vanderdoes drew an enormous amount of attention his senior season. Opposing teams did everything under their power to contain the dominating defensive lineman and he was still able to account for 72 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, two pass deflections, two fumbles caused, one fumble recovery and one blocked put.

Now you know why every school in the country wanted him to attend their school.

Every recruiting season is like a roller coaster for fans. This past season was even more so. This puts the exclamation point on a recruiting season that was one for the ages.

Vanderdoes had offers from just about every school in the nation. He ended up taking official visits to UCLA, Alabama, USC and Notre Dame.

Landing Vanderdoes makes an exceptional recruiting class even more so and once again it is a sure tail sign of the direction UCLA football is headed.
