Incoming Freshman Kyle Molnar Throws No-Hitter for Walla Walla

Jackie Robinson StadiumBREMERTON, WASH. – UCLA incoming freshman right-handed pitcher Kyle Molnar threw a no-hitter to lead the Walla Walla Sweets to a 2-0 victory over the Kitsap Blue Jackets last night at Gene Lobe Field.

The Aliso Niguel High School alum went nine complete innings, striking out eight and walking three to cap the first no-hitter in the West Coast League since July 26, 2013. Molnar threw 124 pitches, 72 of which were strikes, and ended the game in style with a strikeout. 

In four appearances (three starts) this summer for Walla Walla, Molnar is 1-0 with a 2.94 ERA over 18.1 innings pitched. A 25th round selection of the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2015 MLB Draft, Molnar has struck out 15 batters thus far.

Molnar, who went 5-1 with a 1.25 ERA at Aliso Niguel High last season, is set to join a talented recruiting class coming to UCLA for the 2016 season. The Aliso Viejo, Calif. native will compete for a prominent role on the Bruins staff when school commences this fall.
